The Tallahassee Classical Guitar Society is focused on Community Engagement through public performance and youth groups, most of which is organized and presented by its subsection, the Classical Guitar Society at FSU. CGS@FSU believes, at its core, that classical music promotes excellence in community, scholarship, and the self.
Leon High School: On the first Friday of every month performers from CGS@FSU go to Leon High School to play for and talk to a few of Ed Prasse’s guitar classes and perform a concert in the auditorium during lunch.
FSU Student Life Center: On the second Thursday of every month performers from FSU go to the Student Life Center Cafe to perform for two to three hours. This provides students with a relaxed environment to listen to the guitar and appreciate the talent of their classmates.
Black Dog Cafe at Railroad Square: On the third Saturday of every month from 8-10 pm guitarists perform a small concert at this local coffee shop.
RAA Middle School: Guitarists from FSU will go to RAA, the local arts middle school, to play and talk with some of Joshua Lessard’s guitar classes
SAIL High School: Guitarists will go to play for Chris Seepersaud’s guitar classes whenever the chance arises!
Lincoln High School: Similar to Sail and Leon, performers will occasionally go to Eric Robles guitar classes.
Tallahassee Memorial Hospital: On select Sundays members of the guitar society go to the Atrium of TMH to perform for doctors, staff, patients, and their families.
